Dental Exams and Cleanings

Professional dental exams and cleanings are recommended twice yearly for optimum oral health of your teeth and gums, and for detecting dental concerns early to keep them from becoming bigger problems later. A hygiene appointment includes discussing your medical history, an oral cancer screening, checking gums and teeth for disease, taking digital x-rays, followed by a thorough professional cleaning by our hygienist. Afterwards, our doctor will examine your teeth, inform you of findings and recommend any necessary treatment.

Gum Disease

THE #1 PROBLEM that dentists treat is NOT DECAY, but GUM DISEASE!. 80% of the American population show signs of gum disease. Many people ignore early signs which are redness, swelling, and bleeding when brushing. These issues are serious and if left untreated, lead to receding gums and tooth loss. Gum disease has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, and other auto-immune diseases. Research shows that PLAQUE, which builds up in arteries of the heart, is found ONLY in one other place in the body – THE MOUTH!

Fillings and Sealants

Filling and Sealant materials are made of hardened plastic and/or resin which match your tooth color. We do not use silver amalgam for fillings. Sealants are usually applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth where decay occurs most often. We highly recommend sealants for all children and young adults.

Veneers

Veneers are designed to cover the front side of your teeth to improve the shape and color. They can also protect chipped tooth surfaces. Veneers are crafted from strong, but ultra-thin porcelain, then bonded to the front of your teeth for a very natural, translucent look.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown is a covering that is placed over a damaged tooth in order to give it strength and to keep it from crumbling or breaking.  A crown protects a tooth that has been affected by a crack, extensive filling, decay, or weakened from a root canal treatment. A bridge is a set of crowns that are connected together in the mouth to fill gaps made by missing teeth. We make tooth-colored crowns for front and back teeth.

Implant Crowns

The best replacement for a missing tooth is an implant. A specialist places the implant, which is an artificial root, into the empty space. After healing takes place, usually about six months, a crown with a special attachment to the implant is fabricated and put in place. The implant and crown function as a normal tooth in the mouth, giving a very natural look and feel.
